Published by Dispensory · October 2026 · Data last updated October 1, 2026 at 6:15 PM UTC

Arizona had the highest average advertised discount (43%) among qualifying states; 7 of the 10 highest-discount qualifying cities were in Michigan

The Dispensory Deal Index measures how deep dispensary discounts run across the country. This edition is based on 65,092 live deals from 2,522 dispensaries in 25 states, captured in early October 2026. The typical percent-off deal is 30% off, but discounts vary widely by state and city: Arizona and Michigan lead, while New Mexico and New York trail.

  • Live deals analyzed: 65,092
  • Dispensaries: 2,522
  • States: 25
  • Median discount: 30%

Key findings

  1. Arizona had the highest average advertised discount. Among the 13 states meeting the coverage requirements, Arizona's percent-off deals averaged 43% off, followed by Michigan (35%) and California (33%).
  2. Mesa and Phoenix led qualifying cities. Mesa (44%) and Phoenix (43%) had the highest average advertised discounts among cities meeting the coverage requirements. Seven of the 10 highest-discount qualifying cities were in Michigan, led by Battle Creek (42%) and New Buffalo (41%).
  3. New Mexico and New York had the lowest averages. New Mexico had the lowest average advertised discount among qualifying states (20%). Santa Fe (17%), Queens (20%) and New York City (21%) were the lowest among qualifying cities.
  4. Bundles were the most common deal type, largely because of Michigan. Bundle deals such as "5 for $25" made up 64% of classified deals. Outside Michigan, where many dispensaries list each product special separately, percent-off discounts were the most common type (47% vs. 41% for bundles).
  5. BOGO deals were concentrated in a few states. BOGO deals were 7% of classified deals nationally, compared with 28% in Missouri and 19% in New York.
  6. Average discounts were nearly identical across product categories. Qualifying categories averaged between 31% and 32% off, so no single category stood out. Only 1.6% of deals required a promo code.

What this means

The average advertised discount among qualifying Arizona deals was 43%, compared with 23% in New York and 20% in New Mexico. Deal formats also differed: percent-off discounts were 64% of classified deals in California but 8% in Michigan.

Possible explanation: One possible explanation is differences in market maturity, competition and pricing structure between states, though the Deal Index does not establish causation. Because states use different deal formats, the average percent-off discount describes only one part of each market.

Queens, NY20%9
New York, NY21%50
Albuquerque, NM22%22
Boulder, CO22%10

What this means

Qualifying cities ranged from 17% average advertised discount (Santa Fe) to 44% (Mesa). Seven of the 10 highest-discount qualifying cities were in Michigan.

Possible explanation: Cities with many competing dispensaries in a small area, such as New Buffalo and Monroe in Michigan, appear among the highest averages, which may reflect local competition. The data shows the pattern but not its cause.

Deal type distribution

Deal typeShareDeals
Bundles64%33,062
Percent off27%14,020
BOGO7%3,389
$ off2%971

What this means

Bundles were 64% of classified deals, percent-off discounts 27%, BOGO 7% and dollar-off 2%. Excluding Michigan, percent-off discounts were 47% and bundles 41%.

Possible explanation: The national bundle share is heavily influenced by how Michigan dispensaries list product-level specials, so state-level shares are more meaningful than the national total.

Average discount by product category

Vapes deals32%1,598
Pre-Rolls deals32%1,102
Edibles deals31%1,002
Flower deals31%1,487
Beverages deals31%219

What this means

Concentrates, vapes and pre-rolls averaged 32% off; flower, edibles and beverages averaged 31%.

Possible explanation: Differences of one percentage point are within the range expected from normal variation in the data, so category does not appear to be a meaningful driver of discount depth in this edition.

Methodology

What counts as a deal

A deal is a promotion published by a dispensary on its online menu or listing (Dutchie, Jane, Weedmaps or Leafly), or submitted to Dispensory and reviewed. Each deal belongs to one dispensary location.

Active deals

A deal is active if it appeared in Dispensory's most recent collection run for its source and has not passed its stated expiration date.

Collection and updates

Dispensory collects deals from each source in regular collection runs, typically daily. This edition is a snapshot of active deals at the time shown in "Data last updated."

Expired deals

Deals past their expiration date are excluded. Deals that no longer appear in a dispensary's listing are marked inactive at the next collection run.

Duplicates

Each deal is counted once per dispensary and source. Duplicate dispensary listings are merged when identified. The same promotion published on two different sources for the same dispensary may be counted twice.

Deal types

Deals are classified automatically from their text as percent off, dollar off, BOGO (buy-one-get-one style offers) or bundle (multi-item price offers such as "5 for $25"). About 79% of active deals could be classified; deal-type shares are calculated among classified deals only.

Average advertised discount

The average discount uses only straight percent-off deals between 5% and 90%. It excludes "up to" offers, first-time-customer-only offers, and bundle, BOGO and dollar-off deals, which cannot be expressed as a single percentage.

Product categories

Categories are assigned automatically from deal text (about 78% of active deals). Category averages require at least 50 qualifying percent-off deals.

Ranking thresholds

States must have at least 10 dispensaries with active deals and 30 qualifying percent-off deals to be ranked. Cities need at least 8 dispensaries and 20 qualifying percent-off deals.

Dispensaries counted

Dispensaries are counted when they are listed on Dispensory, approved, active and have at least one active deal. Delivery services are included.

Coverage and limitations

Coverage varies by state and depends on which dispensaries publish deals through the sources Dispensory collects from. Some Michigan dispensaries list each product special separately, which inflates Michigan's deal count and bundle share. Advertised discounts do not reflect final prices, taxes or eligibility rules. Promotions change often; confirm availability and eligibility with the dispensary.
